ULTRASWING® SHORT-FIT
MOVE THE SPARE.
OPEN THE BACK.
Built for compatible Toyota 4Runner, Tacoma, Land Cruiser and Lexus GX applications with shorter hitch receivers. The correct wheel plate depends on vehicle generation and wheel setup.
Choose the correct wheel-plate configuration, confirm your hitch measurements and build a complete system.
Follow these sections in order: 1. Check your hitch, 2. Choose your wheel plate, and 3. Explore accessories. The actual wheel-plate selection and price are above this description.
STEP 1 · CONFIRM YOUR HITCH
Is Short-Fit right for your vehicle?
Short-Fit has a shorter insertion tube and one hitch-pin position. It is often considered for Toyota 4Runner, Lexus GX and newer Tacoma applications, but the receiver and rear bumper determine actual fitment.
Also verify receiver insertion and pin engagement, the bumper's rearward profile, door-swing clearance, spare-tire diameter, wheel bolt pattern and loaded weight. Aftermarket bumpers and hitches change these measurements. Vehicle examples are not fitment guarantees.
ASK CAP-IT ABOUT MY FITMENT →STEP 2 · CHOOSE YOUR WHEEL PLATE
Which wheel plate fits your spare?
Use your vehicle generation and wheel offset to choose the matching option above. The carrier itself is Short-Fit in every case, but the wheel plate changes.
4Runner 2010–2024 · Up to +25 mm offset
The Multi-Fit plate. Recommended for compatible 2010–2024 Toyota 4Runner wheel setups and other wheels within its supported bolt-pattern and offset range.
2024+ Tacoma / 2025+ 4Runner / Land Cruiser 250 / GX 550 · +25 to +60 mm offset
The Multi-L positive-offset plate for compatible later-generation Toyota and Lexus factory-style wheel setups. Confirm your actual wheel offset; a vehicle name alone is not enough.
No Wheel Plate
Choose this only if you do not need spare-tire mounting hardware.
WHEEL OFFSET QUICK GUIDE
Aftermarket wheels? Wheel offset can change which plate fits. Verify the offset and bolt pattern on your actual spare wheel before ordering. At the +25 mm boundary or with a non-standard wheel, ask Cap-it to confirm mounting clearance.
Still check the carrier: Short-Fit requires 2″ or less from hitch-pin-hole centre to receiver end, at least 7.75″ vertical hatch clearance, and suitable bumper and rear-door clearance. Need fitment help? Ask Cap-it →
STEP 3 · COMPLETE YOUR SETUP
Build your UltraSwing system.
Choose the accessories that match your adventures. Each item below is sold separately from your Short-Fit carrier unless the selected product specifies otherwise.
Add side-mounted gear storage to UltraSwing. Works alone or alongside a compatible UltraTable.
Carry a compatible Wavian or other supported fuel or water can. SideHack required; select the correct mount.
Attach compatible RotopaX containers to UltraSwing. Pack mount and container are separate.
Add a fold-down work surface for meals, preparation and trail stops.
Explore a larger camp-table option with more preparation space.
CARRYING BIKES BEHIND THE SPARE?
Check the hitch-extension setup first.
Clearing the spare tire typically requires a suitable hitch extension. Confirm the rack manufacturer's extension allowance, the wheel clearance and the UltraSwing's secondary-hitch load limit. Vertical bike racks are not compatible with UltraSwing.
WobNot is an adjustable 2-inch hitch extension, not a towing component. It is not for mounting an UltraSwing. Availability and fit must be checked separately.
Confirm each mounting bracket, container and accessory against the complete carrier and vehicle load ratings before purchase.
Technical details & purchase checks
Load limits and towing
Combined carrier load: 250 lb across the spare tire and mounted gear, subject to vehicle and receiver limits. Secondary hitch accessory tongue load: 150 lb maximum per RiG'd. These are different ratings.
RiG'd separately states an SAE J684 Class IV towing rating of up to 10,000 lb trailer / 1,000 lb tongue for the lower receiver. This towing figure must not be substituted for the 150 lb secondary accessory load limit. Always follow the lowest applicable vehicle, hitch, carrier, rack and towing-system rating; obtain a verified towing configuration before use.
What's included and what is separate?
Your selection determines whether a Multi-Fit wheel plate, Multi-L positive-offset plate or no wheel plate is supplied. The 5/8 in hitch pin is not included. Bikes, bike racks, hitch extensions, tables, fuel and water storage, and accessory mounts are separate.
RiG'd currently lists a licence-plate light kit as included with new UltraSwing purchases. For earlier-stock packages, Cap-it should confirm the actual included components before dispatch. The replacement light kit is listed separately.
Dimensions, construction and warranty
Manufacturer-reported weight: approximately 65 lb (29.5 kg) with wheel plate. Spare-tire diameter: up to 35 in (subject to wheel weight, mounting plate and full system clearance). Built-in anti-wobble hitch connection, adjustable/removable spare mount, swing-out design and UltraLatch.
Steel construction with zinc-rich primer and black powder-coat finish. Made in the USA and backed by RiG'd's limited lifetime Ramble for Life warranty, subject to manufacturer terms.
Common fitment questions
What about larger trucks? Compare Mega-Fit. For standard-length mid-size receivers, compare Multi-Fit.
Which wheel plate should I choose? Match your spare wheel’s bolt pattern and offset. Multi-Fit supports compatible 5/6-lug wheels; Multi-L is for supported positive-offset wheels. No Wheel Plate does not include a ready-to-mount spare-tire plate.
Rivian, Tesla or recessed receiver? The Multi-Fit L is a separate long-insertion carrier. A positive-offset wheel plate alone does not solve the wrong hitch-insertion geometry.
