The Thule Arcos Box L moves your cargo from the roof to the rear of the vehicle, creating generous hard-shell storage without making you lift luggage overhead.
Its streamlined wedge shape is designed for efficient travel, while the low mounting position makes loading, unloading and accessing your gear considerably easier.
But there's one critical thing to understand before ordering: Arcos is a two-piece system.
REQUIRED FOR INSTALLATION
The Arcos Box Cannot Be Used By Itself.
The Thule Arcos Box L must be mounted on a Thule Arcos Platform.
The box does not connect directly to your vehicle's hitch receiver. First choose the Arcos Box L, then choose the platform that connects the complete system to your vehicle.
You have two platform styles: the standard Arcos Platform or the more advanced Arcos Tilt Platform.

WHY CARGO AT THE REAR?
Stop Lifting Everything Onto the Roof.
Roof boxes create excellent additional storage, but every duffel, suitcase and piece of gear still needs to be lifted above your head.
Arcos puts the cargo box much closer to the ground. That makes packing and unpacking easier while keeping the roof completely free for kayaks, skis, bikes or simply cleaner airflow.
Its aerodynamic shape is also designed to minimize the impact on fuel consumption or electric-vehicle range.

The complete Arcos system mounts behind the vehicle, so receiver compatibility, hitch capacity and vehicle clearance all matter.
Thule recommends that the cargo carrier should not extend beyond the outer edges of the vehicle.

THE CAP-IT TAKE
Think of Arcos as a Rear-Mounted Roof Box.
That's probably the simplest way to understand it.
You get the secure, weather-protected storage you'd expect from a premium Thule cargo box, but you don't have to climb up to the roof every time you want your gear.
The two-piece design also means you can choose how sophisticated you want the hitch side to be. The standard platform keeps the system simpler and less expensive. The Tilt Platform costs more, but makes rear access and day-to-day use substantially more convenient.
If this were ours and the vehicle is used regularly, we'd seriously consider the Tilt Platform. If the priority is simply getting 400 litres of cargo behind the vehicle for the lowest system cost, the standard platform does the job.
