ENGINEERED DIFFERENTLY
ARB Didn't Just Put Its Name on Another Winch
The biggest story here is not the ARB badge. It is the architecture underneath it.
The motor control unit is integrated into the winch itself, eliminating the need for a conventional separate control box. ARB connects a bespoke Albright contactor directly to the motor, creating a compact, prewired system designed for clean installation and efficient power delivery.
That packaging is especially relevant on modern vehicles where bumper space, sensors, cameras and other components make clean winch integration increasingly important.
Four Reasons the ARB Winch Stands Apart
Built-In Control
Custom Albright contactor with direct motor connection and no conventional external control box.
Power Isolation
Included 500A main power isolation switch provides a dedicated master cut-off for the winch.
Dual Connection Remote
Operate wirelessly through a secure 2.4 GHz connection or plug in the supplied wired controller lead.
4-Stage Gearbox
Hardened-steel gearing is designed to distribute load while maintaining controlled pulling power and line speed.
BUILT-IN MOTOR CONTROL
No Conventional Control Box. That's the Point.
ARB integrates the motor control system directly into the winch body using a bespoke Albright contactor connected directly to the motor.
The compact system arrives prewired and ready for installation, helping reduce clutter around the bumper while providing greater flexibility for modern hidden and low-profile winch installations.
The clutch handle can also be clocked through 16 positions, making it easier to orient the controls where they remain accessible within different bumper designs.

Built for the Pull
Purpose-Built 12V Motor
A tuned series-wound motor drives the four-stage gearbox with a focus on pulling performance, line speed and controlled current draw.
171:1 Four-Stage Gearbox
Hardened-steel gearsets distribute recovery loads across the gearbox while maintaining efficient torque transfer under heavy pull.
Gearbox-Mounted Brake
The proportional friction brake provides 100% load holding while locating braking heat away from the drum and synthetic rope.
Powered Unspooling
The brake configuration allows powered unspooling under no load, adding another option when positioning the rope for a recovery.
One-Piece Bridging Plate
The reinforced one-piece bridging plate helps provide torsional rigidity through the winch structure under demanding recovery loads.
IP68 Motor & Gearbox
The motor and gearbox are IP68 rated for water and dust protection, exactly where off-road recovery equipment needs it.
ZERO-DRAG BRAKING SYSTEM
Hold the Load Without Cooking the Rope
Many winch designs place the brake inside or close to the drum. ARB moves the braking system to the gearbox.
That design provides 100% load holding while moving braking heat away from the synthetic rope. Less heat at the drum means less unnecessary thermal stress on one of the most important components in the recovery system.
The system also allows powered unspooling under no load, reducing drag when letting rope out electrically.

CONTROL THE WAY YOU WANT
Wireless Freedom. Wired Confidence.
The compact ARB hand controller gives you two ways to operate the winch.
Use the secure 2.4 GHz wireless connection at distances up to 40 metres, giving you the freedom to choose a safer observation point or move around the vehicle during recovery.
When a physical connection is preferred, plug in the supplied 5 metre controller lead.
A remote-mounted control plug also supports low-profile or hidden winch installations without giving up hardwired operation.
POWER ISOLATION
A Proper Master Cut-Off Comes Standard
Every ARB Winch includes a 500A main power isolation switch with universal mounting hardware, stainless lanyard and protective dust cover.
When the winch is not required, the isolation switch allows power to be disconnected from the recovery system, helping prevent unintended operation and providing another layer of control over the installation.

Designed to Belong on the Vehicle
A winch may be recovery equipment first, but installation still matters. ARB has deliberately kept the system compact and visually restrained so it can integrate cleanly into modern winch-ready bumpers.

SYNTHETIC ROPE STANDARD
Lighter, Easier to Handle and Built for Modern Recovery
Both ARB Winch variants are supplied with grey synthetic rope and a protective sleeve.
Synthetic recovery rope is significantly lighter than equivalent steel cable and is easier to handle during setup and pack-down.
A forged 6061 aluminium hawse fairlead completes the rope system on both capacities.
CHOOSE YOUR CAPACITY
ARB 10K vs ARB 12K
The two winches share the same core architecture and recovery technology. Choose the capacity appropriate for your vehicle, loaded operating weight, bumper and intended recovery use.

Which ARB Winch Is Right for Your Vehicle?
ARB 10K
10,000 lb Rated Line Pull
A strong choice for many midsize and full-size 4x4 applications when the vehicle, bumper and loaded operating weight are appropriately matched to a 10,000 lb recovery winch.
ARB 12K
12,000 lb Rated Line Pull
Adds recovery capacity for heavier full-size trucks, loaded overland vehicles and applications where vehicle weight and intended use justify the larger winch.
Winch selection should consider the vehicle's loaded weight, bumper compatibility, mounting system and intended recovery use. Contact your local Cap-it store before ordering if you are unsure which ARB Winch is appropriate for your build.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the ARB Winch have a separate control box?
No. The motor control unit is integrated into the winch body. ARB uses a custom Albright contactor connected directly to the motor, eliminating the conventional external control-box arrangement.
Is the ARB Winch wireless?
Yes. The supplied controller can operate wirelessly using a secure 2.4 GHz connection with a range of up to 40 metres. It can also be connected using the supplied 5 metre lead.
Does it come with synthetic rope?
Yes. Both the 10K and 12K versions are supplied with grey synthetic recovery rope and a protective sleeve.
What is the difference between the 10K and 12K versions?
The primary difference is rated pulling capacity. The 10K is rated to 10,000 lb and uses a 5.3 HP motor with 10 mm × 92 ft synthetic rope. The 12K is rated to 12,000 lb and uses a 5.7 HP motor with 11 mm × 79 ft synthetic rope. Both use the same core ARB architecture, including a 171:1 four-stage gearbox, built-in control system and gearbox-mounted brake.
Is the ARB Winch waterproof?
The motor and gearbox carry an IP68 water and dust protection rating. Installation, electrical connections and other vehicle components should still be completed and maintained according to ARB's instructions.
Can the clutch handle position be changed?
Yes. The clutch handle can be clocked through 16 positions, providing additional flexibility when installing the winch within different bumpers.
What does the gearbox-mounted brake do?
It provides 100% load holding while moving braking heat away from the drum and synthetic rope. The system also allows powered unspooling under no load.
Does an isolation switch come with the winch?
Yes. ARB includes a 500A main power isolation switch, universal mount, stainless lanyard and protective dust cover.
Will this winch fit my bumper?
Winch compatibility depends on the bumper, winch cradle, vehicle and available mounting space. Confirm the bumper's winch capacity and installation requirements before ordering.
THE CAP-IT TAKE
ARB Had to Bring Something Different
The winch market already has established names and proven products. Simply putting an ARB logo on another conventional winch would not have been particularly interesting.
What makes this launch compelling is that ARB attacked the architecture instead.
The built-in motor control unit, direct-connected Albright contactor, gearbox-mounted brake, four-stage gearing, wired/wireless controller and standard power isolation system create a package that feels thoroughly considered rather than pieced together.
For customers building an ARB-equipped truck, serious overland vehicle or modern 4x4 recovery system, this is not simply an ARB-branded alternative. It is a genuinely different take on the recovery winch.
