OLD MAN EMU BP-51

The Suspension We Want Under a Built Tundra

Premium on-road ride. Serious off-road control. Tuned for the weight your truck actually carries.

Most Toyota Tundras built for adventure spend far more time on pavement than they do hammering across the desert. That's exactly why suspension choice matters.

The Old Man Emu BP-51 Suspension System combines sophisticated internal bypass damping, independent compression and rebound adjustment, remote reservoirs and vehicle-specific spring rates to create a Tundra that can be genuinely capable off-road without sacrificing the ride and control you live with every day.

THE CAP-IT TAKE

Built for the Way Most Tundras Are Actually Used

There are suspension systems built around maximum articulation, maximum lift or high-speed desert racing. That's not what most Tundra owners actually need.

A properly built adventure truck still has to commute, travel hundreds of highway kilometres, carry passengers and remain comfortable on a long road trip. Then the pavement ends and you expect it to handle washboard, forestry roads, rocks and technical terrain with confidence.

That's where we think BP-51 shines. It gives the Tundra substantially more control and capability without turning a premium truck into something you tolerate on pavement just so it works off-road.

Why BP-51 Is Different

Internal Bypass Damping

BP-51 uses position-sensitive internal bypass technology to provide compliant damping through normal suspension movement while progressively increasing control toward the extremes of the shock stroke.

Adjust It to Your Truck

Ten compression settings and ten rebound settings allow the suspension to be tuned on the vehicle for load, terrain and the way you want your Tundra to drive.

Remote Reservoirs

Additional oil capacity helps manage heat and maintain damping performance during sustained off-road use and demanding terrain.

6061 Aluminium Bodies

Hard-anodized 6061-grade aluminium shock bodies provide excellent heat dissipation, strength and corrosion resistance.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT SPRING RATE

3203K or 3204K?

Both kits use the same BP-51 front coilovers, rear shocks and installation components. The difference is the rear coil spring, allowing the suspension to be matched to the constant weight carried by your Tundra.

BP-51 KIT 3203K

0 lb Constant Rear Load

Uses the OME 2860 rear coil spring.

Best suited to Tundras without significant permanent rear accessory weight. Provides approximately 2" of rear lift while retaining a spring rate intended around the unloaded or lightly equipped truck.

BP-51 KIT 3204K

440 lb Constant Rear Load

Uses the OME 2863 rear coil spring.

Designed for approximately 440 lb of constant additional rear weight, making it the natural choice for many permanently equipped overland builds carrying a canopy, camper, drawer system, recovery equipment or other substantial accessories.

440 lb refers to constant accessory weight.

Don't select the heavier spring simply because you occasionally load the truck for a trip. Suspension should be matched to the weight the vehicle carries on a regular basis. If you're unsure, contact Cap-it and we'll help match the spring to your build.

BUILDING AN OVERLAND TUNDRA?

One of Our Favourite Choices for Alu-Cab Builds

Add a canopy, camper, drawers, fridge, recovery gear, water and camping equipment and your Tundra isn't carrying the same weight Toyota originally delivered.

That's why we particularly like BP-51 for properly equipped overland Tundras. The rear spring can be selected around constant accessory weight while the adjustable BP-51 dampers give us the ability to tune suspension behaviour around the finished vehicle.

The result isn't simply a lifted truck. The goal is a complete suspension system matched to the complete build.

Exactly What's in Your BP-51 Kit

Cap-it stocks the individual Old Man Emu components that make up these complete suspension systems. That makes it easy to identify exactly what you're buying now and exactly what component you may need later.

Add the Old Man Emu Upper Control Arms

ARB also offers BP-51 packages 3206K and 3207K. Those systems use the same core components as 3203K and 3204K respectively, with the addition of the Old Man Emu UCA0016 Upper Control Arm Kit.

At Cap-it, we sell the UCA separately so you can choose the suspension configuration you actually need.

The OME upper control arms are designed to bring alignment geometry back into an acceptable range on lifted Tundras while providing a heavy-duty tubular arm, maintenance-free GIIRO bushings and greaseable ball joints.
