Octoberfest: save $1,000 on either configurationStandard or Deluxe Solar. October 1-31, 2026. Explore all offers →Swipe for key details →
Fitment first: approximately 70 kg for the base tent plus 6 kg for the ladder; the Deluxe rack and solar add weight. Confirm your complete mounting system with Cap-it. Installation, battery, charge controller and vehicle wiring are not included.
Standard vs Deluxe Solar: what is included?
Standard: complete tent
Includes the Desert Cruiser 130 V2, foldable aluminium ladder, 7 cm high-density foam mattress, insulated cotton mattress cover, 7 mm polypropylene support sheet, one interior power socket, two shoe bags, ladder storage bag and standard tent mounting hardware.
Deluxe: the same tent, plus integrated solar
Adds the custom Desert Cruiser roof rack, solar-panel support brackets and permanently mounted 300W panel. Both configurations share the core tent, sleeping platform, mattress and construction.
Plan the electrical system separately
The panel generates electricity; it does not store it. A compatible charge controller, battery system or portable power station and the appropriate wiring are required. These are not included unless specifically stated.
The mounted panel avoids unpacking and positioning a separate portable panel at every stop. It can help supply compatible 12V fridges, lighting, phones and cameras, but output depends on sunlight, shading, orientation, temperature and the connected equipment.
Compare the panel's voltage and current specifications below with your intended power system before choosing Deluxe. Cap-it can help review the setup.

Hard-shell convenience

The gas-strut-assisted mechanism opens the tent into an approximately 200 x 130 cm sleeping area, with up to approximately 125 cm of interior height. It is designed for one or two campers who want a repeatable setup without sacrificing mattress thickness or useful space.
Aluminium travel shell

The black aluminium honeycomb top cover protects the folded tent without a loose soft travel cover. Base closed dimensions are approximately 220 x 149 x 20 cm; account for any rack, panel and vehicle mounting hardware when measuring the complete installation.
Arrive, open, settle in

Gas struts help lift and support the shell. The main tent body does not require loose support poles. Adjust the included foldable aluminium ladder and arrange your bedding to finish the setup.
Actual setup and pack-down time depends on installation height, ladder adjustment, bedding and campsite conditions.
A proper foam mattress

The included 7 cm high-density foam mattress has an insulated cotton cover and a 7 mm polypropylene support sheet beneath it. No inflation or overnight air-pressure adjustment is required.
Two exterior shoe bags keep muddy footwear outside. An interior power socket provides a connection point for compatible accessories, with the final power setup dependent on your own source and adapters.
Cap-it take
We have watched Wild Land refine the Desert Cruiser over multiple generations. The 130 V2 brings together the features that matter while travelling: mattress comfort, useful interior space, aluminium protection, shoe storage, power access and the option of permanently mounted solar.

Vehicle fitment, installation & delivery
The base tent is approximately 70 kg, plus a 6 kg ladder. The Deluxe rack, solar panel, mounting hardware and any additional rooftop equipment add to the installation. Do not use base tent weight as the complete mounted weight.
Compatibility depends on the vehicle, canopy or bed rack, mounting space, crossbar spacing and load ratings. Select trucks, SUVs, properly rated canopies, vans and trailers may be suitable. Consider vehicle payload and centre of gravity as well as the individual mounting components.
Confirm all applicable travelling and parked-use ratings, including occupants when parked. The lowest applicable rating in the complete system governs the installation.
Participating Cap-it locations can inspect the mounting arrangement, review ratings and spacing, position the tent, install the supplied hardware, adjust the ladder, test opening and closing, and discuss solar-system requirements. Installation is quoted separately.
Product selection, fitment help and product support are available in-store or online. Visit a Cap-it location or email shop@capit.com with your vehicle year, make, model, rack or canopy details and preferred configuration. Our fitment guide explains what to check before ordering.
Shipping is prepaid across Canada on orders over $200, including rooftop tents. Exceptions apply to select rural destinations. See our shipping policy or contact us with your postal code to check a rural delivery.
Weather care & optional annex
Fabric ratings and condensation
The fly uses silver-coated 210D rip-stop polyoxford rated PU3000 mm, the inner tent uses 190 g rip-stop polycotton rated PU2000 mm, and the floor uses 600D polyoxford rated PU5000 mm.
These are material ratings, not guarantees for every campsite condition. Correct setup and fabric care matter. Air the tent, mattress and bedding after rain, cold nights or extended storage. Condensation can occur even when the tent was packed dry.
Optional Desert Cruiser annex
The optional annex creates a ground-level room for changing, storage or sheltered sitting. Confirm current availability and compatibility for your specific tent with Cap-it before ordering.
Published annex details: 210D rip-stop polyoxford with PU2000 mm silver coating, telescopic aluminium poles and a back panel. A floor is not included. Approximate size is (265 + 75) x 375 x 210 cm.
Desert Cruiser 130 V2 FAQs
What is the Standard/Deluxe difference?
Both include the complete core tent and normal equipment. Deluxe adds the custom roof rack and permanently mounted 300W solar panel.
Does the solar package include a battery?
No. A compatible charge controller, battery system or portable power station and appropriate wiring are required separately.
Can the panel charge while driving?
The panel may generate power whenever it receives sufficient sunlight, including during travel. Actual output depends on sunlight, shade, orientation, temperature and the connected system.
When is Deluxe worth choosing?
Consider Deluxe for regular off-grid trips, a compatible fridge or power setup, and less handling of portable panels. Standard may suit you better if you already have a suitable portable solar system.
How quickly does it set up?
The gas-strut-assisted mechanism is designed for quick deployment. Installation height, ladder adjustment, bedding and conditions determine the actual time.
How many people does it sleep?
Two occupants, with an approximately 200 x 130 cm sleeping area.
Is a mattress included?
Yes. A 7 cm high-density foam mattress, insulated cotton cover and 7 mm polypropylene support sheet are included.
Can bedding stay inside when closed?
Some thin, evenly packed bedding may fit. Available space depends on its thickness and arrangement. Do not force the shell closed over bulky pillows or duvets.
Does it have interior charging?
One interior power socket is included. Charging capability depends on the power source, wiring and adapters you connect.
Is an annex available?
An optional Desert Cruiser annex is listed for an enclosed ground-level changing, storage or living area. Confirm current availability and exact fitment with Cap-it.
Will it fit my vehicle?
Mounting space, crossbar spacing and the ratings of your complete vehicle, canopy and rack system determine compatibility. Send Cap-it the exact vehicle and mounting details before ordering.
Are factory crossbars suitable?
Some may be, while others lack capacity, width or the required mounting position. Confirm dynamic and static ratings and hardware compatibility.
Can Cap-it install it?
Participating Cap-it locations can review fitment and quote professional installation separately.
Who is this model best suited for?
One or two campers who want a gas-strut-assisted aluminium hard shell, substantial foam mattress and the option to integrate a 300W solar panel.
