BACKWOODS ADVENTURE MODS | HI-LITE OVERLAND
Hi-Lite Overland Front Bumper | Toyota Tacoma 2024+
Steel where strength matters. Aluminum where weight doesn't.
The Backwoods Adventure Mods Hi-Lite Overland Front Bumper takes a different approach to front-end protection for the 4th Gen Toyota Tacoma.
Instead of building the entire bumper from one material, Backwoods combines a 35 lb aluminum outer shell with a 42 lb steel winch cradle and recovery structure. The result is a high-clearance, winch-ready bumper weighing approximately 77 lb.
This is the clean No Bull Bar configuration, built for customers who want protection, recovery capability and improved clearance without adding unnecessary bulk to the front of the truck.
SPECIAL ORDER PRODUCT
Built to Order Through Backwoods.
This bumper is special ordered from Backwoods Adventure Mods and is not maintained as regular stocked inventory at Cap-it.
Manufacturer production lead times can vary and may extend to approximately 14 weeks depending on current demand and production scheduling.

THE BACKWOODS DIFFERENCE
A True Hybrid Bumper.
Backwoods built its reputation around using different materials for different jobs. Instead of making the entire bumper from steel or the entire bumper from aluminum, the Hi-Lite separates the structural and exterior responsibilities.
OUTER STRUCTURE
35 lb Aluminum Shell
The exterior bumper shell uses aluminum to reduce overall weight and eliminate rust from the largest exposed portion of the bumper.
STRUCTURAL CORE
42 lb Steel Winch Cradle
Steel is retained where the bumper carries recovery and winching loads. The recovery points and winch structure tie directly into the vehicle frame.
KEEP THE FRONT END LIGHTER
Strength Without Hanging a Massive Steel Bumper Off the Nose.
Front-bumper weight matters. Add a bumper, winch, lighting and recovery equipment and the amount of weight ahead of the front axle can climb quickly.
Backwoods' hybrid construction concentrates steel around the winch and recovery structure while using aluminum for the outer shell.
The result is a full high-clearance recovery bumper at approximately 77 lb before the winch and accessories are added.
BUILT FOR THE TRAIL
More Than a Different-Looking Front Bumper.
High-Clearance Design
Aggressive bumper geometry improves front-end clearance and approach angle for technical terrain and larger-tire builds.
Winch Ready
Designed for most winches up to 12,000 lb, with the steel winch cradle mounting independently from the aluminum bumper shell.
Frame-Tied Recovery
Steel recovery points are tied directly into the frame-mounted structure instead of relying on the aluminum shell.
Soft-Shackle Friendly
Radiused recovery points are designed to provide a smoother contact surface for compatible soft-shackle recovery setups.
Pod-Light Cutouts
Integrated light locations accept most aftermarket 2" pod-style lights. Factory Toyota fog lights are not retained.
Powder Coat Included
A durable textured black powder-coated finish is included rather than treated as a separate finishing upgrade.
MODERN TACOMA COMPATIBILITY
Designed Around the 4th Gen Tacoma.
Backwoods designed the Hi-Lite specifically around the current-generation Tacoma rather than adapting a generic bumper platform to fit.
- Fits: 2024+ Toyota Tacoma, 4th Generation
- TSS: Compatible
- Parking Sensors: Compatible
- Factory Fog Lights: Not compatible / not retained
- Fairlead: Accepts hawse fairleads
WINCH FITMENT
Check Winch Height Before You Build.
Backwoods lists this bumper for most winches up to 12,000 lb, but physical winch dimensions still matter.
If the winch exceeds approximately 10.1" in height, the solenoid may need to be relocated or the crossmember may require slight modification.
WARN ZEON note: Backwoods specifically identifies ZEON winches at approximately 10.5" tall as applications that require relocation or modification. Confirm your exact winch dimensions before installation.
TWO-PIECE INSTALLATION
Install the Strength First. Add the Shell Second.
One advantage of Backwoods' hybrid design is that the entire bumper does not need to be lifted onto the truck as one large assembly.
The steel winch cradle mounts first, allowing the winch to be installed and wired independently. The lighter aluminum bumper shell is then installed over the structural cradle.
Backwoods describes the system as suitable for one-person installation, although professional installation is available through participating Cap-it locations.

Because this is a special-order product, we recommend discussing the complete setup with your Cap-it location before placing the order.
Frequently Asked Questions
Backwoods currently lists this No Bull Bar Hi-Lite bumper for 2024+ 4th Generation Toyota Tacoma models.
The aluminum outer shell reduces overall weight and eliminates rust from the primary exterior shell, while steel is used for the winch cradle and frame-tied recovery structure where structural strength is most important.
Backwoods currently publishes approximately 35 lb for the aluminum shell and 42 lb for the steel winch cradle, for a combined bumper weight of approximately 77 lb.

THE CAP-IT TAKE
The Hybrid Construction Is What Makes This Bumper Interesting.
There are plenty of Tacoma bumpers. The Backwoods Hi-Lite earns its place by doing something genuinely different with the structure.
Steel around the winch and recovery points makes sense. Using steel for every square inch of the exterior bumper doesn't always make sense, especially once a winch, lights and recovery gear are added to the nose of the truck.
Backwoods' two-piece design also makes installation and future service around the winch considerably more logical than wrestling with one enormous welded assembly.
It's a niche bumper for a customer building a serious Tacoma, but for that customer, the combination of clearance, recovery capability and relatively low weight is exactly why we'd look at Backwoods.
