PRINSU TOP RACKS
Prinsu Universal Top Rack | Pro or Original
Turn a truck canopy, camper shell, trailer or compatible platform into a full-length Prinsu cargo system.
The Prinsu Universal Top Rack brings the low-profile, modular Prinsu platform to applications where a vehicle-specific cab rack isn't what you need. It is particularly well suited to truck canopies equipped with compatible roof tracks, while also providing a flexible platform for trailers, campers and other custom setups.
Choose Prinsu Pro for the stronger crossbars, reinforced side rails and additional mounting flexibility, or choose Prinsu Original for the proven lightweight platform that established the Prinsu design.
Then select the truck and bed-length application that best matches your setup. Cap-it translates the raw rack dimensions into practical Mid-Size and Full-Size truck choices to make ordering easier.

Pro or Original? Start With How You'll Use It.
Both Universal Top Racks give you a low-profile aluminium platform with movable crossbars and flexible accessory mounting. For many canopy owners, the Original already delivers exactly what they need.
The Prinsu Original combines aluminium side rails, high-strength alloy crossbars, integrated drop points and a modular bolt-together design.
The Prinsu Pro takes the same basic idea further with stronger redesigned crossbars, six drop-in points per crossbar, reinforced two-part side rails, stainless-steel hardware and more configurable mounting feet.
Prinsu Pro
A more reinforced Top Rack for builds where the platform itself plays a bigger role.
- Redesigned crossbars, published by Prinsu as 44% stronger
- 6 integrated drop-in points per crossbar
- Two-part side-rail design for increased rigidity
- Reinforced upper bend increases strength and rigidity
- Corrosion-resistant stainless-steel hardware
- Highly configurable mounting feet
- Approximately ±0.5" mounting-foot height adjustment
- Low-profile modular construction
Best for: more involved canopy builds, frequent gear changes, extensive accessory mounting and customers who want the strongest Universal Top Rack architecture Prinsu currently offers.
Prinsu Original
Lightweight, low-profile and modular, with the classic Prinsu Top Rack architecture.
- Full aluminium construction
- High-strength alloy crossbars
- Integrated drop points for accessory mounting
- Lightweight aluminium side rails
- Aerodynamic low-profile design
- Completely modular bolt-together construction
- Satin-black textured powder coat
- Short rack supplied with 6 cargo crossbars
- Long rack supplied with 7 cargo crossbars
Best for: everyday canopy and trailer builds carrying camping gear, storage, recovery equipment and recreational accessories where the Original platform already provides enough capability.
THE REAL DECISION
The Pro Is an Upgrade, Not a Requirement.
If you want a clean platform over your canopy for cargo, camping equipment, bikes, recovery gear or occasional accessories, the Prinsu Original remains a very capable solution.
Choose Prinsu Pro when you value the stronger crossbar design, additional drop-in locations, reinforced rail structure and more adjustable mounting architecture. The more equipment you plan to integrate into the rack, the more meaningful those upgrades become.
SECOND CHOICE
Choose by Truck and Bed Length, Not Just Rack Dimensions.
Most customers don't arrive knowing they need a 47-inch-wide or 54-inch-wide rack. Start with your truck size and bed length, then use the actual rack dimensions to verify the mounting surface before ordering.
MID-SIZE SHORT BED
Mid-Size Truck w/5' Bed
Uses the 4.5' L × 47" W Top Rack.
MID-SIZE LONG BED
Mid-Size Truck w/6' Bed
Uses the 5.5' L × 47" W Top Rack.
FULL-SIZE SHORT BED
Full-Size Truck w/5.5' Bed
Uses the 4.5' L × 54" W Top Rack.
FULL-SIZE LONG BED
Full-Size Truck w/6.5' Bed
Uses the 5.5' L × 54" W Top Rack.
FULLY MODULAR
Turn the Top of Your Canopy Into Usable Space.
The value of a Prinsu Top Rack is flexibility. Crossbar placement and integrated mounting points let you build around the equipment you actually carry, then reconfigure the platform as your setup changes.
PRINSU PRO
Where the Pro Goes Further.
The Pro Top Rack carries the current Prinsu Pro architecture into the universal platform, giving customers a more reinforced structure and additional ways to position and mount equipment.
LOAD CAPACITY
Your Canopy Determines the Limit.
Prinsu does not publish one universal load rating for these Top Racks. Capacity varies with the number and configuration of crossbars, and the complete system is ultimately limited by the load capacity of the canopy, topper, track system or other structure supporting the rack.
Before loading the rack: confirm the allowable capacity of your canopy or mounting platform and follow the requirements of the track system, rack configuration and mounted accessories. A stronger rack does not increase the structural rating of the canopy underneath it.

UNIVERSAL FITMENT
Confirm the Canopy Before You Order the Rack.
- Primary Application: Truck canopies / toppers with compatible roof-track mounting systems
- Other Applications: Compatible trailers, campers and custom platforms
- Original Track Compatibility: Prinsu specifically identifies Thule/Yakima tracks and similar track systems
- Rack Width: 47" for the stocked Mid-Size applications, 54" for the stocked Full-Size applications
- Rack Length: 4.5' for shorter-bed applications, 5.5' for longer-bed applications
- Original Crossbars: 6 cargo crossbars on the short rack, 7 on the long rack
- Pro Installation: Prinsu specifies a no-drill rack installation with configurable mounting feet
- Warranty: Lifetime Prinsu warranty
Tracks are not included with the Original Universal Top Rack. If your canopy does not already have a compatible track system, additional components and potentially installation of tracks may be required.
Bed length is a useful starting point, but it does not guarantee fitment. Always confirm your canopy's usable roof dimensions, track spacing, mounting surface and accessory clearance before ordering. If you're unsure, contact Cap-it and we'll help verify the application.
PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION
The Rack Is Universal. The Canopy Under It Isn't.
On a compatible existing track system, the Universal Top Rack is designed to install without drilling or modifying the vehicle itself. The Original uses mounting feet that bolt into compatible topper tracks, while the Pro adds more configurable mounting feet and height adjustment.
The bigger installation question is often the canopy. Track spacing, canopy roof shape, front-to-rear width changes, allowable roof load and available mounting surface can all affect the finished installation.
Participating Cap-it locations can measure the canopy, confirm the appropriate rack size, determine whether additional mounting hardware or tracks are required and professionally install the complete system.
Frequently Asked Questions
Its primary use is on truck canopies or toppers with compatible track systems. Prinsu specifically identifies fiberglass toppers such as LEER, A.R.E. and SnugTop equipped with Thule/Yakima-style tracks, and also identifies trailers as a suitable application.
Start with your truck size and bed length. Cap-it uses a 47-inch-wide rack for the stocked Mid-Size applications and a 54-inch-wide rack for Full-Size applications. Short-bed applications use the 4.5-foot rack and longer-bed applications use the 5.5-foot rack. Always verify the actual canopy dimensions before ordering.
No. A truck with roughly a 5-foot or 5.5-foot bed typically uses the shorter 4.5-foot rack, while the longer bed applications use the 5.5-foot rack. The truck-bed description is there to simplify shopping, while the actual rack dimensions are shown for final verification.
Both are modular aluminium Top Racks. The Pro adds redesigned crossbars Prinsu rates 44% stronger, six drop-in points per crossbar, reinforced two-part side rails, stainless-steel hardware and more configurable mounting feet with approximately ±0.5 inch of height adjustment.
The rack itself is designed for no-drill installation on compatible applications. The Original bolts into compatible topper tracks, and Prinsu also specifies no-drill installation for the Pro. If your canopy does not already have the necessary track system, installing tracks may require additional work depending on the canopy.
No track system is included with the Original Universal Top Rack. Confirm that your canopy has compatible tracks or speak with Cap-it about what may be required to complete the installation.
Prinsu does not specify one universal capacity for these racks. Capacity varies with crossbar configuration, and the complete installation is limited by the capacity of the canopy, topper, track system or other structure supporting the rack.
Compatibility depends on the complete installation, particularly the canopy or platform underneath the rack and its published load limits. Confirm the canopy, track system, rack configuration, tent and mounting hardware are all suitable before using the system for a rooftop tent.
Yes. A participating Cap-it location can help measure the mounting surface, review track compatibility and determine whether the 47-inch or 54-inch width and 4.5-foot or 5.5-foot length is the right starting point.
THE CAP-IT TAKE
Shop for Your Truck First. Measure Your Canopy Before You Buy.
Calling these racks 4.5 × 47 or 5.5 × 54 may be technically accurate, but it isn't how most people shop. If you own a mid-size short-bed truck, you should be able to start there rather than already knowing the dimensions of the rack you need.
That's why we've organized our stocked applications around Mid-Size vs Full-Size and short vs long bed, then shown the actual rack dimensions alongside them for verification.
We also wouldn't automatically push everyone into the Pro. The Original is still an excellent modular canopy rack. Choose the Pro when the stronger crossbars, reinforced rails and expanded mounting flexibility will actually matter to your build.
The final check is always the canopy underneath it. Measure the usable mounting surface and confirm the canopy and track system can safely support the equipment you plan to carry.
